Recording Live IPTV — What You Need
Recording live IPTV TV lets you build your own DVR (Digital Video Recorder). Most major IPTV apps support recording to external USB storage, allowing you to save sports matches, series episodes, and films for later viewing.
To record IPTV, you will need:
- A USB storage device (USB drive or portable hard drive, FAT32 or exFAT formatted)
- TiviMate Premium or another app with DVR support
- A device with USB port (Firestick 4K, Android TV box, or PC)
Recording with TiviMate Premium
- Connect a USB drive to your Firestick or Android box
- In TiviMate, go to Settings → Storage and select your USB drive as the recording location
- To record a live channel immediately: long-press the channel and select Record
- To schedule a future recording: open the EPG, navigate to a future programme, long-press it, and select Record
- Manage scheduled recordings under Recordings → Scheduled
- Watch completed recordings under Recordings
Recordings are saved as MP4 files and can be played back in TiviMate or transferred to a computer for viewing anywhere.
Recording with IPTV Smarters
IPTV Smarters Pro supports live recording on Android devices. While watching a channel, tap the screen to show controls and look for the record button (circle icon). Tap it to start recording to your device's storage. Recordings are accessible from the Recorded Files section in the app menu.
Setting Up Scheduled Recordings
TiviMate's EPG integration makes scheduling simple. Open the Guide view, navigate to any future programme, press and hold the OK button, and select Schedule Recording. The recording will start automatically at the programme's start time, even if TiviMate is in the background.
For series recording: schedule the first episode and TiviMate will offer to record all future episodes of the same series automatically.
Storage Tips for IPTV Recording
- HD recordings at 1080p consume approximately 2–4 GB per hour
- 4K recordings consume 8–15 GB per hour
- For frequent recording, use a USB 3.0 hard drive of at least 500GB
- Format the drive as exFAT for best compatibility with large files
- Store recordings on the USB drive, not internal Firestick storage (very limited at 8GB)
